We may just be entering Autumn, but here at Keynsham Elim we are already planning for Christmas. With the start of the 3 month count down comes a new year for our Christmas Shoebox appeal - an opportunity for the public to give a shoebox full of Christmas presents to a disadvantaged child in Romania this year. Last year we raised an incredible 1,000 shoeboxes through the appeal, one third more than the previous year.
Each box we produce will provide a Christmas present for a disadvantaged child who would otherwise have nothing. With your support we hope to reach even more families through our on-the-ground grassroots partner, CASA Grace, in Oradea in western Romania. CASA Grace is a small social work charity that works with underprivileged families in and around Oradea. CASA Grace supports families from a variety of difficult backgrounds including those living in poverty, parents who have been taken ill and are now unable to support their family, or children with special health needs.
Each year at the start of December, our team travels to Romania to help deliver shoeboxes to these families. Each shoebox is festively decorated and lovingly filled with Christmas presents. For many of the families supported by CASA, the shoebox you create will be the only present they receive this Christmas. With your help, we can bring joy and a smile by sharing your shoebox this Christmas season.
Want to get involved? Visit our 2018 Christmas Shoebox Appeal page to find out details of how you can produce your own shoebox, and what kind of items you can put inside. You'll find lots of useful resources including flyers and posters which you can download and print for your school, club or place of work. You can also help us spread the word by sharing this page on Facebook and with your friends.
